SAINT BERNARDS — EXHIBITING AND BREEDING

Most Saint Bernard books are written for the new pet owner or prospective owner. Zielinski, a long-time breeder/judge, looks at every aspect that is of interest to the serious fancier, whether for show or breeding. If you are serious about St. Bernard dogs and want to start competing in the showring or have aspirations of breeding a litter of St. Bernard puppies, this is the perfect choice. From understanding the breed standard to choosing a quality breeder and raising the puppy, to the show ring or whelping box, Zielinski shares all.

EXPERT ADVICE ON ST. BERNARD DOGS

1. A wonderful "Standard in Pictures," plus extensive description of the breed standard
2. What is a fault, and what to look for in markings, head, and movement
3. Guidelines for buying a top quality puppy
4. Perspective of a judge who also exhibits
5. Fifty tips for the less experienced breeder, and more for those with experience

AUTHOR STAN ZIELINSKI

Stan Zielinski, with more than thirty years of experience with Saint Bernards, is active in the Saint Bernard Club of America, the Saint Bernard Club of Puget Sound, and the Puyallup Valley Dog Fanciers. He is a licensed dog show judge and was a student of the world’s foremost Saint Bernard authority, Beatrice M. Knight. Together with his wife, Joan, he established Stoan’s Kennel in Kent, Washington, where he has bred a number of champions and obedience title holders.

In Stan’s direct and often humorous manner of approaching a topic, he discusses puppies, breeding, faults, temperament, movement, size, judging, and all aspects of the Saint Bernard breed. Read his interesting blog at http://stoans.blogspot.com/
