AUTHOR CHARLENE LABELLE
Charlene LaBelle grew up backpacking with her family and Penni, their medium size family dog. She owned Alaskan Malamutes since 1976 and helped establish a hiking program to include dogs for the Northern California Alaskan Malamute Association. Her dogs were the first Alaskan Malamutes to be titled Working Pack Dog Excellence (WPDX) on the West Coast (requirements include a 140+ mile pack trip) and also had the fourth and fifth dogs to be titled WPDX in the world!
